little party

Pictures from a little party we did last week. The big piece is in the customers vase...I used cymid heads, vanda orchids, mums, ilex berry, oak leaves and my favorite of the season, sandersonia. Whenever I get the chance to make a big piece like this I'm reminded of how much I still have to learn. Luckily I work with ladies who are willing to let me learn by doing.

Sandersonia is the yellow/orange bell-like flower in the first two pictures. The bud vases were for her small tables. And best of all I delivered the flowers to her home, so I was able to see them in the space and see her reaction.

man's best friend

You know how at the bank they have a little cup full of suckers on the counter? Well at my bank they not only have suckers, but they have little dog biscuits too. My bank is trying to be both kid and dog friendly.
Yesterday I was impatiently standing in line at this kid/dog friendly bank and a gentleman walked up to get a snack, but instead of grabbing a sucker he took a handful of dog biscuits. A handful of dog biscuits isn't unusual, but he didn't have a dog with him, so I thought to myself, "maybe he has a dog at home."
But boy was I wrong. As he was walking back to his place in line he took a giant bite out of one of the biscuits! And he processed to eat the entire handful of biscuits.
This little scene made my wait in line just a little more tolerable.

botanicals

Visited the Brooklyn Botanical Garden yesterday. Found lots of interesting pods, seeds and a few roses.

Had a super weekend-- cheered for thousands as they ran the NYC marathon, hungout with my sis, enjoyed a yummy brunch, and witnesses hundreds of children on a sugar high.

up high, down low

Yesterday a customer gave me a high-five. Guess he was glad that the rain had finally stopped.

hello lovely

We had extra beautiful flowers in the shop last week-- the loveliness of the flowers was key in off-setting all the crazy customers we had to deal with. Above are: tree peony, garden roses, mini cymbid heads, sandersonia, and ilex.

the little things

Most of the time I am the designated maker of the corsages and boutonnieres for weddings. I love the detail and smallness of these pieces and the above corsage is one of my favorites so far. I used bits of dutch hydrangea, dendrobium orchid heads, muscari and berried ivy.
